Monetizing Journalism

A ha. After several weeks of floundering around, searching for a good topic each day (and skipping some because of other pursuits), I may have hit on my topic of interest: monetizing journalism. It’s an easy slogan: “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” It’s not as easy when what you love doesn’t pay. It did when I got out of school – newspapers and TV and radio – and now it’s much less common, thanks to the availability of free news online. I’ve touched on this before, and many others have as well.

But this is not a whine about how good writers don’t get paid; instead, I think I’ll make it the purpose of this writing blog, to talk about how to successfully monetize journalism – how to get income, especially outside the obvious of pitching articles and keeping your fingers crossed.
